The Division of Science and Research offers grant opportunities for scientific research and science education through the West Virginia Experimental Program to Stimulate Competitive Research, the West Virginia Research Challenge Fund and the West Virginia Research Trust Fund.

In addition, the division coordinates various federal agency grant programs for research infrastructure in West Virginia.
